Clinical Guidelines for stroke prevention and management

The Stroke Foundation developed the Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management 2010 to provide evidence-based recommendations for the management of stroke.

This document combines and replaces the previously published Clinical Guidelines for Acute Stroke Management (2007) and Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery (2005).

We are currently updating our Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management with the latest research evidence. Until the new edition is published in July 2017, please use the 2010 guidelines. For more information, email guidelines@strokefoundation.com.au

We also produce concise versions of the guidelines that are discipline-specific.

If you would like to purchase a hard copy of the Clinical Guidelines for Stroke Management 2010, please use the resource order form (PDF 267 KB).

Guidelines for the assessment and management of absolute CVD risk

The Stroke Foundation is part of the National Vascular Disease Prevention Alliance (NVDPA), which developed the guidelines for the management of absolute cardiovascular disease risk.

Childhood stroke guidelines

The recently established Australian Childhood Stroke Advisory Committee is currently developing guidelines on the diagnosis and management of acute childhood stroke. Until the Australian guidelines are released, there are USA and UK guidelines that provide a summary of evidence for this population.
