Commencement of rehabilitation
Early mobilisation is a component of stroke unit care, where "mobilisation" is defined as out-of-bed activities and can include sitting out of bed, standing and walking.
While the best timing to commence mobilisation and other active rehabilitation is evolving, observational studies have found very little therapy is provided during acute inpatient care.
Note: additional information on commencing aphasia therapy is available under Communication.
