Carer training

Carers often report feeling poorly informed, dissatisfied with the level of post-discharge support and inadequately trained in the activities of their new role. These include personal care techniques, communication strategies, physical handling and transfers, safe swallowing and dietary modifications, management of behaviours and psychosocial issues, and ongoing prevention of functional decline.

For current research and evidence-based recommendations see our Clinical Guidelines.
