Funding available to develop Stroke Trial Ready Centres
Expressions of interest are now open for funding to support the establishment of new Stroke Trial Ready Centres across Australia through the NHMRC CRE in Stroke Trials.
The scheme is open to hospitals and health services, in partnership with academic institutions, seeking to build their stroke clinical trials capability across acute, recovery and prevention settings. Successful centres will receive $50,000 in CRE funding, matched by a $50,000 local contribution, to support workforce development and clinical trial program establishment.
Priority will be given to centres that are currently underrepresented in stroke clinical trials and to teams that demonstrate diversity, equity and inclusion.
Key eligibility requirements include:
- No existing Stroke Research Coordinator.
- Capacity to participate in clinical trials across at least two stroke care streams (acute, recovery, and/or prevention).
- Executive support for matched funding.
- Established research governance and ethics processes.
- Identified acute and recovery clinical trial champions who are CRE affiliates (affiliation applications can be submitted concurrently).

Outcome notification: February 2027.
