QUIT part 1: Best-practice smoking cessation care (replay)

This webinar will support clinicians, in any setting, to improve outcomes for patients who smoke and explore opportunities to embed smoking cessation care into routine practice in clinical stroke settings.
The webinar will assist clinicians to:
- Understand the impact of smoking as it relates to stroke prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation.
- Understand brief advice conversations and carry out a three step brief advice (Ask, Advise, Help) for smoking cessation.
- Define tobacco dependence and identify key factors contributing to its development.
- Understand appropriate pharmacotherapies to assist smoking cessation and how to prescribe (or facilitate access to) pharmacotherapies.
- Identify options for behavioural interventions (including Quitline 13 7848) and referral to available services and tools.
About the presenter
Leah Pett is the Hospital Engagement Coordinator for Queensland StrokeLink.
Leah is an occupational therapist with a Master of Health Science, Stroke Management, and she has strong links in the areas of education, community and rehabilitation.
