The National Acute Stroke Services Audit measures the quality of acute stroke care in hospitals throughout Australia. The 2023 results highlight where the system is working well and reports on areas where improvements or changes are needed.

About the presenter and panellists
Melita Stirling is the Stroke Quality Improvement Manager at Stroke Foundation and works to strengthen foundations of best-practice stroke care by enhancing organisational resources, engaging with health professionals and drawing on the voice of lived experience.
Melita has a background as a speech pathologist and brings her experience of working with stroke survivors in acute, rehabilitation and domiciliary services, to program design and delivery.
Professor Helen Dewey is the Non-executive Director representing interests of clinicians and Chair of the Stroke Foundation's Clinical Council.
A consultant neurologist and clinician researcher, Professor Dewey specialises in the area of stroke. Her interests include stroke epidemiology, health service improvement and acute stroke therapies.
She is currently the Clinical Director of Neurosciences at Eastern Health and Professor, Eastern Health Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash University, Melbourne. She is also the current Chair of the Management Committee for the Australian Stroke Clinical Registry (AuSCR).
Kelvin Hill is the National Manager Clinical Services at the Stroke Foundation, where he oversees the development and implementation of the Australian Living Stroke Guidelines, the National Stroke Audit and other national clinical and policy activity.
Kelvin is also actively involved in national and international efforts to improve guideline methods and their implementation.
Lauren Pesavento is a Stroke Nurse Consultant working in hyper-acute and acute stroke at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Lauren has a strong interest in secondary stroke prevention and supporting health behaviour changes.
Lisa Yates is the StrokeLink Coordinator for Queensland. She has a clinical background as a speech pathologist across acute, subacute and community services in both Australia and the UK.
More recently Lisa has been working as an allied health team leader a for rehabilitation-in-the-home service, and in project management, health service performance reporting and health service improvement.
