- identify the differences between mortality, incidence and prevalence, and how these data are collected
- explain the limitations of mortality statistics
- describe how incidence varies between countries and what these differences mean
- state how incidence figures can be used for many different purposes
- illustrate where Australia and New Zealand fit in regard to stroke incidence and the geographical, socio-economic and ethnic differences that occur.
