Stroke physiology and types

Overview 

In this module you will learn about the key differences between ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke. This includes how to distinguish, identify and treat these two types of strokes and their subtypes, as well as transient ischaemic attack. Common warning signs of stroke are also highlighted to help you identify when a person is experiencing a stroke. You will also be introduced to other complications, such as herniation, cerebral oedema and midline shift.

  • Distinguish between ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke and their sub-types.
  • Identify the correct treatment for the different types of stroke
