New clinical factsheets for atrial fibrillation
Decision-making aids to support time-poor clinicians
The Heart Foundation has released new clinical factsheets for atrial fibrillation. Designed with and for clinicians as decision-making aids, the factsheets translate complex, essential clinical recommendations, evidence, and information into quick reference practical guides thereby making concise, targeted and practical advice easy and accessible within routine clinical practice.
The factsheets were developed in extensive consultation with generalist clinicians, including general practitioners, nurses, and other medical and allied health professionals about how their learning and work can be supported. The factsheets are designed to be decision-making aids that complement the comprehensive information contained in the recent clinical guidelines, National Heart Foundation of Australia and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand: Australian Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Atrial Fibrillation 2018.
The two factsheets are:
- Atrial fibrillation screening and diagnostic work up.
- Stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation using CHA2DS2-VA score.
Both are available to download and print from the Heart Foundation website under atrial fibrillation guidelines and tools.
